What is reconstructive plastic surgery?

Reconstructive surgery is a branch of surgery concerned with the restoration of form and function. Although the press and public often associate plastic surgeons with cosmetic surgery, most plastic surgery involves the treatment of congenital problems (such as cleft lip and palate), the treatment of cancer and reconstruction following cancer treatment (for breast cancer, head and neck cancer and skin cancer) and surgery following injury (including facial and hand injuries). Reconstructive surgery aims to repair people and restore function. This may involve simple wound closure with stitches at one end of the spectrum to complex microsurgical transplantation at the other end. Plastic Surgeons provide reconstruction for people with a variety of problems from head to toe and from newborn babies to the elderly. Paying for treatment

Tees Plastic Surgery offers Consultant-delivered state-of-the-art breast reconstruction surgery at the Nuffield Health Tees Hospital Stockton-on-Tees and BMI Woodlands Hospital Darlington. Breast reconstrcution is funded by health insurance companies. We would advise you to contact your insurer to discuss this before you make an appointment to see us. Paying for yourself could not be simpler and both Nuffield Health and BMI hospitals offer loans to fund surgical treatment.
