Your first visit

Good communication between you and your plastic surgeon is essential when planning your treatment. At your first appointment you can tell us what concerns you and what type of result you are looking for. We will assess your general health, examine the area of concern and explain the treatment options available to you. We will then go through the procedure, what you can exact afterwards and the likely outcome – it is important to be realistic with your expectations.

After your treatment

What you do in the first days and weeks following your treatment is important to achieve the best result. We will advice you on the type of anaesthetic (awake or asleep), whether you need to stay in overnight, how much time you might need off work and when you can expect to get back to normal.

What types of treatment do men ask for?

  • Nose reshaping (rhinoplasty) to improve the size and shape of your nose.
  • Male breast reduction (gynaecomastia reduction) – men often ask if we can improve their “man boobs” or “moobs”. Options for treatment include liposuction, surgery or both to give you a flatter chest.
  • Tummy reduction (abdominoplasty), body contouring and liposuction - men are increasingly asking for surgery to improve the size and shape of their abdomen by removing excess fat and skin with liposuction, surgery or both.
  • Facial plastic surgery – the largest increase in procedures for men is in non-surgical treatment (Botox and fillers) and facial plastic surgery, including facelift, necklift and liposuction and surgery for eyebags (blepharoplasty).
  • Setting back prominent ears and ear reshaping.

What about the risks?

Most of our patients do not have problems after surgery but it is important to understand that there is no such thing as risk-free surgery and surgery in men is no different. In clinic we will spend time discussing the potential risks and complications of the treatment you choose, what to look out for and what we can do if it does happen.
